For some time I have informed my writer friends about the abundance of writing opportunities that appear online. Sure, it is a chore to search the web for contests, funding, and so on, but a number of newsletters will send opportunities right to your email account. FREE. Really…FREE. I subscribe to several of these publications, as well as a few that charge for information. I share this information in TWR Opportunities section because I believe it is important for writers to know what resources are available to them.
Now I am sharing the links to these sites with our readers. So get ready to add some bookmarks.
By far the best site is Poets and Writers, http://www.pw.org/. Their databases include writing contests, literary magazines, small presses, and jobs. They even list contests by deadline. How easy is that?
I am also familiar with the following notable websites. I suggest that you explore these sites and subscribe if you find them helpful. Unless otherwise indicated their newsletters are free, and most feature articles and useful tips. In addition, some sites offer networking opportunities.
Winning Writer’s http://www.winningwriters.com/
Fiction Factor http://www.fictionfactor.com/
The Fund for Women Artist http://www.womenarts.org/
Erotic Readers and Writers Association http://www.erotica-readers.com/ERA/index.htm
Writers Market.com http://www.writersmarket.com/ $5.99 per month
This is a short list, but there are many others.
I cannot vouch for the validity of any site; however, Editors and Predators strives to keep writers informed of frauds and questionable practices. I strongly suggest that writers take a proactive approach and become informed. It is your time, your work, and in some instances your money. Protect yourself and stay connected with the writing community.
